Some marvelous old photos here. Was any of SAC ever any kind of amateur photog, did you hire one,or were most of the private shots just random bits of having fun for posterty’s sake?
Why this band did not Skyrocket the popularity of the that time or ANY time …beyond me, could be timeless, though getting airplay would be a challenge, doesn”t take the fabulousness of this music, ferrously heavy and yet lepidoptera light. And fantastic!!!
just wanted to know who the guitarist was love every inch of this band realize one major song but so what probably the greatest song of the late sixties even better than hey jude in my eyes but that doesn’t matter
Hey, Mark
It’s been a while, eh? I was part of the SAC “family” for a while back in 1968 – 69. I did an abbreviated tour with the group to Western Michigan U. The other part of the tour was cancelled.
Always good to hear SAC’s stuff. My ex-wife says you’re “immortal”. Immortal. That’s like, forever, yeah? When you can compete with the pyramids for notoriety, you have definitely made a big dent.
I was very sorry to hear about Lee some years ago. Never got the chance to express my condolences. I was living in Asia at the time. Don’t know what the circumstances were, but to me, he was always one of the “good guys”.
By the way, SAC is still very big in Taiwan, Hong Kong and other places in Asia.

Randy is a great man. Behind the drums and elsewhere. He taught me everything I know about the yacht remodel/repair business and we had a lot of fun working for him in the 90s. I myself worked for Randy (when I wasn’t out trying to make money “alternatively” here and there, for 11 years). He definitely wasn’t one to talk much about his success, but if you asked Hed gladly share.. Some cool stories would here and there would flow. Much love and respect for sure.
1968 Goldtop u traded?
Hello Ed,
Do you remember trading a new 1968 Les Paul Goldtop to a teenager back in southern Michigan in 1968. That kid was my brother, it may have been when you did the Western Michigan University tour that was cancelled after that show in 1968. You or someone else in the band may have traded the Paul for his 335.
Unfortunately, he passed away over 30 years ago, but I still have the Les Paul.
I read the story of how you got your 59 sunburst back years after it was stolen. This 68 was also stolen in Denver years ago and was found a year later in a warehouse bust. I found out this 68 is actually a 59 made in Nashville when I looked up the serial number.
I was hoping you could verify this story for me. I,m glad your still out there Rockin!!! Best wishes to SAC on 50 years. Thanks for your time, Todd Hickory

I think I have one of the posters like the one in the black frame – the 16th image posted. Just wondering if anyone can tell me about it’s value?

Richie Rich
Ed King. He went on to play in the first version of Lynyrd Skynyrd. He still play today with various tribute bands.

It’s likely a different guitar. I traded mine away in Walla Walla. And there’s a song.
